Fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus has swapped the runway for restaurant design in Paris, where he’s unveiled his latest culinary project, Oursin.
The eaterie sits on the second floor of BIG’s Galeries Lafayette department store on the Champs-Élysées with Jacquemus taking inspiration from long Mediterranean summers and the small towns that line the French coast to create its white-washed interiors. Lime-coated walls have been paired with rattan furniture, while a sandy-coloured banquette runs along the back wall of the seafood restaurant.
Small pops of colour come via ceramic vases on display in geometric cubby-holes which stud the back wall, and a mature lemon tree, which takes pride of place in the centre of the restaurant.
Oursin – which means sea urchin in French – is the second project conceived by Jacquemus in collaboration with Caviar Kaspia in the building, joining first-floor café Citron.
