It might look humble from the street but Casa BonTon in the Portuguese town of Lagoa is full of unexpected spaces – including a hidden courtyard treat…
Dutch-Portuguese practice Studio Arte revived the dilapidated 1895 village farm – available to rent via Holiday Architecture with price in application – reimagining it as a sleek contemporary home with hidden terrace and pool. Old walls have been carefully restored as a canvas for contemporary artworks, while furniture is a mix of antiques and vintage objects.

Casa BonTon sleeps up to six, with two bedrooms secreted in the garden wing, and the master suite in the main house.
