Foals have given a new spin to London’s Alexandra Road estate in their video for ‘Mountain At My Gates’.
Director Nabil shot the video using GoPro’s Spherical virtual reality technology. Viewers can ‘step inside’ the estate and take a 360-degree turn around its central walkway using the A/W/S/D keys on their keyboard.
The Brutalist estate’s ziggurat-form is plucked from its urban setting and set against the fantasy backdrop of a mountain range.
Designed by architect Neave Brown and built between 1972-78, the Alexandra Road estate – most commonly known as ‘Rowley Way’ – was the first post-war housing estate to be granted a Grade II listing.
It is a popular movie and television location and has appeared in films such as the apocalyptic 28 Weeks Later and Kingsman: The Secret Service.
‘Mountain At My Gates’ is the third Foals video directed by Nabil, whose previous efforts saw the band wandering through a desert in ‘Bad Habit’ and playing in a Bucharest hotel in ‘Late Night’.
