Burger restaurants aren’t known for their refinement or sophistication. But Gasoline Grill encourages diners to leave their preconceptions at the door thanks to its sleek interiors by Studio David Thulstrup.
The Copenhagen restaurant sits in the Værnedamsvej neighbourhood, and according to the practice, the project pays homage to 1960s gas stations, American diners and Gasoline Grill’s original location inside a petrol station.

A galvanised steel island and LED lights are suspended from the original plaster-moulded ceiling, indented with small arches. These stark surfaces juxtapose the warm terrazzo counter and specially designed oak stools, made in collaboration with E15.
Both the kitchen and the bar counter are freestanding, and steel appliances and display cases complete the futuristic aesthetic.
