Looking for a change of scenery? The Cornish island of St Michael’s Mount is hiring a new Visitor Services Manager – and the job comes with free digs.
St Michael’s Mount is accessed from the Cornish mainland via a tidal causeway and is home to one of the UK’s most famous medieval castles, where the new manager will work. Just 0.09 sqm in size, the island has around 35 full-time residents, though it welcomes 350,000 visitors a year thanks to its historic attractions and staggering landscape.
Says the job listing: ‘Working with tide and weather, you will be an organised and forward thinking logistical planner who thrives on a challenge and enjoys the adventure of working in such a unique location.’
The new manager will be based at the castle and will oversee the entire visitor journey from the car park to the castle and back. They’re also tasked with managing a team of 30 seasonal employees, most of whom commute daily to the island via boat.
Salary expectations are between £24,000 to £29,000 and if the new manager wishes to live on the island, accommodation is provided in the village, where there’s also an inn, a 12th-century chapel, a restaurant and subtropical terraced garden.
Interested candidates have until 9 am Tuesday 17 April 2018 to submit their applications.
