Private members’ empire Soho House will open the doors to its first Spanish bolthole in Barcelona’s Gothic quarter this week.
Soho House Barcelona takes over a 18th-century townhouse on Plaça del Duc de Medinaceli, close to the waterfront. The 57-bedroom clubhouse is equipped with two restaurants, a 36-seat cinema, spa and signature rooftop pool and bar overlooking the city.

‘I’m incredibly excited about Barcelona,’ says Soho House founder Nick Jones. ‘It’s a project we’ve been working on for the last four years – it’s such a vibrant, interesting, fun, creative, foodie city.’
Interiors fuse Spanish and mid-century styles. European 1960s design pieces sit beneath double-height Catalan vaulted ceilings, gothic-style chandeliers and mouldings. Meanwhile Spanish tiling and textiles jibe with rugged pillars and parquet flooring.

Bedrooms – which are also available to non-members, starting at €220 – are detailed with antique bronze fixtures, plank flooring and a mix of mid-century furniture which contrasts with the space’s late 18th-century bones.
Soho House Barcelona is the group’s 18th outpost. Founded by Jones in 1995 and now spanning six countries, the company is currently undergoing a fresh spate of expansion, with new club houses planned for Amsterdam, Tokyo and Mumbai.
