Sam Smith video One Last Song - filmed in London's Palladium theatre

Grammy-award winning singer Sam Smith croons his way around the hallways of the London Palladium in new video, ‘One Last Song’.

Directed by Joe Connor, the music video was shot on 35mm in a single take. It picks up as Smith steps off the stage of the Grade II*-listed performance venue, built by Walter Gibbons in 1910 and designed by theatre architect Frank Matcham.

Speaking to industry blog Promonews, Connor said: ‘The concept came from the idea that every night Sam will sing these songs to audiences which are undoubtedly personal stories… the performativity of this song for me happens off stage, when the performer reflects on the songs just sung, and the emotions that instigated them.’

The camera trails behind Smith as he warbles his way past the paparazzi’s flashing cameras at the Argyll street entrance, and through the gilded corridors of the Edwardian building. It ends on the rooftop of the 2,286-seat venue, as a chorus of ballet dancers practice their dance routines.

Says Smith: ‘This track is my final love song directed to an old love of mine. I love singing this and I had so much fun making the video. After a 25 hour shoot, I truly believe we created something beautiful.’
