New Milan design gallery PalermoUno packs a colourful punch

Interior designer Sophie Wannenes has transformed her former home into new gallery PalermoUno in Milan – and it is awash with colour.

The eight-room hub takes over the entirety of a second-floor apartment in the city’s Brera Design District and has colour blocked rooms including a midnight blue living room and an aubergine kitchen.

Presented as a ‘living home’, every object within PalermoUno is for sale and Wannenes plans to refresh the gallery regularly.

The dealer and decorator comes from a long line of vintage dealers. She’s tapped her talents to curate furniture from northern Italian vintage markets as well as pieces by her favourite designers including Mario Milana, Pietro Russo and lighting fixtures by Tala and glassmaker Bomma.
