A labyrinthine spectacle awaited guests at Moncler’s A/W20 show in Milan as the brand carved a vast industrial space into eight immersive worlds for its Genius collection.
The MonclerGenius drop unpacked the collaborative project’s motto, ‘One House, Different Voices’ by welcoming eight designers for this season’s outing, including Craig Green, Simone Rocha, Sandro Mandrino, JW Anderson and Richard Quinn among others.
Richard Quinn took a leaf out of Stanley Kubrick’s verse for his stark, spaceship-like stage, which drew on the director’s seminal film 2001: A Space Odyssey. A shuttle tunnel with brilliant white panelled walls and flooring set the stage as models swept through drenched in floral motifs.
Irish designer Simone Rocha installed a movie theatre inside her pavilion, complete with red velvet chairs and a giant screen showing a film of women having nervous breakdowns. Drawing on the works of Italian director Fellini, the setting offering took on a haunting atmosphere when paired with Rocha’s embroidered looks, complete with rose prints and frills.
Veronica Leoni’s monochrome stage for her Moncler 1952 Woman collection also had an otherworldly feel like akin to the surface of Mars, complete with rocky mounds and ethereal red lighting.
