Moshe Safdie has thrown open the doors to his private apartment inside the iconic Habitat 67 in Montréal.
The Israeli-Canadian architect designed the 10th-floor duplex for himself inside the Brutalist landmark, which comprises 354 prefab concrete boxes that are stacked on top of each other.
For the building’s 50th anniversary it was given a top-to-toe refurb by his practice that took two years to complete.

The concrete bolthole’s energy consumption standards have been upgraded and safeguarded against the coldest of Canadian winters for years to come. Interiors have also had a spruce, in line with Safdie’s original vision.
Now the architect’s home will be used for scholarly research and welcome tours.
