Dut18 offers elegant minimalism in the heart of the British countryside

Country views and sharp design are on offer at the converted barn

This Dutch barn conversion by Turner Works brings clean lines and stripped back design to the wilderness of rural Warwickshire.

Dut18 is the passion project of creative couple Laura and David Johnston; founders of London creative studio Accept & Proceed. They tapped Carl Turner and co to convert the agricultural structure into a serene, design retreat where they can gather friends and family to enjoy 14 acres of unspoiled countryside and spectacular stargazing.

Inside Dut18’s black corrugated steel exterior lies seven bedrooms, a vast open-plan kitchen and living space, and a curtained-off yoga area that doubles as a cinema. The Johnstons say the interiors are inspired by ‘the elegant pause of minimalist design and the messy pagan pulse of nature worship’ – with the home located close to the ancient Rollright Stones.

Turner Works kept the material palette simple, with the focus placed squarely on materials such as polished concrete, Douglas Fir, and steel-framed windows.

Dut18 is located in Shipston-on-Sour, not far from the North Cotswolds and Stratford-upon-Avon, and a couple of hours’ drive from London. The UK holiday home starts from £1,800 for a weekend stay and can sleep up to 15 people.
