Fresh from winning international renown with his restaurant Odette in Singapore, French chef Julien Royer has collaborated with André Fu of AFSO Studio on the interiors of Louise, his first restaurant in Hong Kong.

Housed in a Grade II listed building in the historic district of PMQ, Louise has a menu inspired by Royer’s French roots and newer oriental influences garnered from his time in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Fu took the Hong Kong restaurant’s name as the starting point for his design. ‘Louise is the name of [Royer’s] aunt,’ he told Singapore Tatler. ‘It’s conceived as her house.’ Inspired by this character, the interiors blend a French sensibility – modernist sofas, block colours, original Thonet chairs – with an infusion of tropical colours and prints, including the dramatic chinoiserie wallpaper that lines the stairs.
