Origami lanterns designed to mimic the flow of lava has cast an abandoned building in Spain’s Catalan region aglow.

Anna Juncà and David Oliva of Barcelona practices SP25 Arquitectura and Atelier 4 collaborated on the ethereal project, dubbed ‘Origami Lava’, as part of the annual Lluèrnia Festival celebrating fire and light.
They attached more than 10,000 pieces of folded paper to the derelict structure in the town of Olot, which is surrounded by dormant volcanoes. Strategically placed lights and smoke machines illuminated the origami elements, creating the illusion that the building was erupting.
