The Grade II-listed Osborne Cottage has plenty of stories to tell – from its former royal owner to its original historic details.
Once home to Princess Beatrice, Queen Victoria’s daughter, the UK property is filled with grand features including a cantilevered staircase with elaborate metal scrollwork, and an unusual circular sky lantern – which fills the home’s lobby with natural light.
The four bedroom house – on the market with Biles & Co for £625k – inhabits two storeys of the cottage, which has been divided up since its construction in 1856. It encompasses several of the original property’s key rooms, including a library – complete with faux book-front cupboards – that opens onto a private garden. Other period details include original mouldings, stone fireplaces, and mosaic patterned floor tiles in the entrance hall.
Osborne Cottage has already undergone some renovation work, including its refurbished windows, although would-be owners will still have bring the property up to date.
