A landmark home by Modernist maestro Richard Neutra has hit the market in Los Angeles after being restored to its midcentury glory.

The JM Roberts Residence was designed in 1955 by the architect, but the four-bedroom Los Angeles property fell into serious disrepair over the decades. In 2014, it underwent an extensive two-year-long restoration, which took the West Covina home back to its near original state.

Embedded into a 3.5 acre plot dotted with eucalyptus, pine and oak trees and overlooking the San Gabriel mountains, the single-storey dwelling is packed with period details. The $1.795m house has walls of glass, lofty beamed ceilings, terrazzo and cork flooring, and a large, double fireplace built from fossilised stone.

Original tile and cabinetry has also been retained inside the 2,580 sq ft home, and outside there’s a private swimming pool.

The JM Roberts Residence at 621 Wrede Way will be co-listed via Ilana Gafni of Crosby Doe Associates and Nate Cole of Unique California Properties.
