The West London County Court has stood proud at the end of the North End Road since 1908. It’s judicial duties are now over – the building was converted into flats in 2012 – but traces of its former life abound.

Vaulted ceilings, a jury box integrated into a custom-built kitchen, and oversized windows are a few of the features to be found inside Courtroom No.1, which is currently for sale via Domus Nova.

Its current owner – the president of a luxury international retail brand – was drawn to the apartment by its soaring ceiling heights. The main hall ascends to 35 ft, making it ‘perfect for showcasing our art’.

‘We also loved the tri-level layout as it allowed us to create different environments and entertaining areas,’ adds the owner. ‘And the acoustics in the reception room are incredible for listening to music.’

The two main bedrooms are currently located on the lower ground floor of the Grade II-listed building, while the living area extends across the ground floor and a mezzanine level holds a further bedroom-cum-study.

They enlisted Ebba Thott of Sigmar to design the interiors of the apartment. Walls are painted with colours from her bespoke line, Damo, while the lighting was custom-made in the US and Paris. Shelving in the dining room was also custom-built to display the owner’s vintage black and white photography.

While the courtroom’s benches are long gone, chairs by the likes of Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand and Finn Juhl currently take their place.
