The remains of an early 19th-century church in Canada play host to Coeur de pirate’s video for new song ‘Carry On’.

St. Raphael’s Ruins in Glengarry, an hour’s drive from Montreal, was the founding church for English-speaking Catholics in the region and one of the first across the country. A fire in 1970 destroyed much of the building, but its outer stone walls stood firm.

‘Coeur de pirate envisioned a dance taking place in a decaying environment so I instantly thought of the ruins,’ says the video’s director Kevin Calero. ‘The place normally has tall green grass but, since we shot right before winter, we were granted permission to burn all the grass to create a post-fire look.’
