This restored Tuscan villa was once the home of Napoleon Bonaparte’s sister.
Sitting among rolling hills in Lucca, the Italian estate – for sale via Knight Frank for €13m – dates back to the 15th century and was famously owned by the Princess of Lucca in the early 1800s.
The five-storey Tuscan property has been completely restored by local craftsmen under the guidance of its owner Giuliano Baldini. He retained many of its period features while adding a few of his own…

A sweeping double staircase leads to the entrance of the Italian villa, which is surrounded by manicured gardens and lawns. Formal rooms are spread across its ground floor – including a living room with carved wooden ceiling and marble fireplace, as well as a large dining room and the master bedroom suite.

The basement houses more relaxed spaces with rooms opening onto the restored historic gardens. Here there’s a second living room with large rustic fireplace, billiards room and another dining area.
Modern additions to the five-bedroom Italian property include a private swimming pool, helipad and outdoor jacuzzi.

But that’s not all: the sale includes several farm buildings which are used to produce and prepare the oil produced by the property’s olive groves, which are spread over 111 hectares.
