Adverts across Stockholm have been swapped for maps that help homeless people find shelters on freezing nights.
The city’s churches and non-profit organisations open emergency shelters on nights when the temperature drops below -7 degrees, but homeless people often don’t find out about them until afterwards.
To help spread the word, 53 billboards in Stockholm will show details of the nearest shelter, along with clear directions and opening hours. There will also be information on how to volunteer and support local organisations.
The city is testing the initiative for the rest of January – the coldest month in Stockholm – as part of a partnership with billboard operator Clear Channel.
