It’s a long walk to the nearest neighbour from this home at the foot of the Mount Franklin volcanic crater in Victoria, Australia.

Sky High’s angular architecture contrasts its surrounding 50 acres of uninterrupted nature. Its full-length glass windows frame views across the nearby farm and bushland. The volcano – which is now dormant, having last erupted over 400,000 years ago – is also home to a wooded reserve, and not far from spa town Daylesford.

A terrace at the front of the four-bedroom property – which is being auctioned on 24 February by JellisCraig – provides space for basking in the sun, and there’s also a small round saltwater pool to cool off in. The circular motif continues elsewhere in the form of archways and windows.

Inside, designers Tik and Josh White have positioned the living and dining areas to make the most of sunrise and sunset. No room lacks for views of the countryside, including an almost entirely glass-walled bathroom that’s one for the braver bathers – who can soak in freshly pumped spring water.

Sky High also features interior stone walls that reference those found in the Mt Franklin area, as well as polished concrete flooring and a domed skylight that brings in the abundant natural light.
