This sprawling Tuscan hotel in Italy’s Siena countryside is looking for a new proprietor to realise its full potential.
The boutique hotel – on the market via Sotheby’s International (price on application) – started life as a medieval hamlet, and its bones are a real patchwork of Italian history. Its earliest buildings date back to the 14th century, with further additions added in the medieval and renaissance period, through to the 18th and 19th century.
Currently, the hotel has 27 bedrooms (all with en-suite bathrooms) and an infinity pool that looks out over manicured gardens and the seemingly endless Siena hills.
Rooms within the 96,875 sq ft complex have soaring beamed ceilings, terracotta tiling and stonework throughout. And with 69 hectares of grounds, and a third of the estate’s buildings still awaiting restoration, there’s also plenty of opportunity to expand the Tuscan hotel further.
The hotel has its own privately consecrated chapel – decked in period frescoes and plasterwork – restaurant and mature vineyards that produce cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese grapes (the cellar is kitted out with winemaking equipment).
