Silent Wander video still

Electronic producer Daniele Raguso – aka A Copy For Collapse – takes us on a tour of a derelict Italian hotel with his new music video ‘Silent Wander’.

The film follows dancer Stefany Seumyr as she twirls through the crumbling ballroom of the building. Located in the little spa town of Salsomaggiore Terme and designed in stile Liberty, it’s one of many forgotten structures in northern Italy.

But in ‘Silent Wander’ – directed by KES’ Giovanni Bolondi and Murad Suleymanov, with Federico Mazzarisi – it acts as a stand-in for another ubiquitous type of abandoned architecture in the country…

‘We chose this location because our story takes place in an asylum,’ explains Bolondi. ‘But, of all the abandoned asylums I know in Italy (and there are a lot), none could match the wasted beauty of this hotel: it seemed perfect for the slightly dark and cursed tone that the music inspired.’

He adds: ‘The main hall of the hotel was mostly intact. [And I think] some restoration to its original Liberty details was done.’

A Copy For Collapse’s synth-laden beats heighten the eeriness of the building’s faded grandeur.
