Manila design studio Dada has created a concept for a set of floating houses, that can weather the tides and storms of the sea.
Named Current for Currents, the sail-shaped homes are designed for coastal communities that are under greater threat from the effects of climate change.
The floating huts would collect solar and tidal energy which can be used to power the homes, as well as provide an additional source of income for the community. Their modular design – which is anchored to the sea bed – allows them to be arranged together in floating towns, or as lone units.
Dada originally envisioned the units for the Phillippine coast but say the design can be adapted for other oceanfront locations.
