Since I was a kid I wanted to have a tree house (my siblings and cousins will know how we failed). Now my fiance @sigurdlarsen_architecture brought it to life with the mini hotel @lovtag Falling asleep and waking up in a tree house in the forrest, right next to a tree in the middle of the room, which is moving with the wind, was the most exciting hotel experience ever. After sleeping there you’ll never look at a tree the same way. I’ll miss the birds and outdoor shower ??? ??????

Gates are open (metaphorically speaking, I opened the floodgates). The art nouveau cabinet rotated into this spot, and the piece that was there before (6 posts back) is now in the master bedroom. Sometimes a little furniture shuffle is just what’s called for! (Moving around furniture can be very uplifting, especially if you’re not the one doing the “lifting”!) ~ Not waiting on the vintage couch arrival which started the whole rotation. ???

The dramatic drop in level allowed the fantastic architects we worked with on this project @studio_mcleod to create the spectacular extension seen in the open plan kitchen a couple of posts ago. We wanted to give the big room a sense of intimacy by creating smaller areas by adding the borders in the floor, painstakingly designed by @crbarker , and very much inspired by the Swedish parquet floors of my childhood. We designed the bottom of the bookshelves to work as both seats and storage for toys + much needed shoe storage, which was hard to cater for in to the relatively narrow hallway of this ‘typical’ Victorian house. @violanari made the beautiful pendant for us, the flower stand is an early 20th century Danish find which I love in combination with the sculptural John Dickinson table… photo as ever by @simonbrownphotography ?. #inspiration #interior #interiordesign #livingroom #beataheuman #beataheumaninteriors
