Would-be owners of this Venetian apartment will never struggle for creative inspiration. There are enough frescoes here to cure even the most stubborn of writers’ blocks.
The six-bedroom home – on the market for €8.9m via Sotheby’s International Realty – inhabits an entire floor of a 15th-century palace, close to St Mark’s Square, as well as an attic above. It was the French consulate in the 20th century.
Ceilings and walls of the Venice property come lavishly decorated by 18th-century Italian artist Pietro Antonio Perotti, whose work has been shown at London’s Royal Academy, and is included in The Louvre’s collection. Perotti’s frescoes in the apartment – located on Campo Santo Stefano – are listed by the Belle Arti di Venezia.
Several expansive reception areas offer space for entertaining guests. A partially covered roof terrace also offers spots for sunlit breakfasting, and the apartment has its own entrance to a side canal.
