A new single-room hotel has opened up in Denmark’s capital, and it’s doing double duty as both guesthouse and design showroom.
The house, located in Copenhagen’s central Amagertorv, is filled to the brim with Danish design classics – including pieces by icons such as Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen and Børge Mogensen. Guests to the one-room hotel can also browse furniture and objects by new designers on the scene.
It’s all been masterminded by Jens Løkke and Uffe Buchard – who publish DANSK Magazine and run Darling Creative Studio. The pair have chosen pieces that recreate the feeling of staying in someone’s home, selecting deep pile rugs, leather seating and wooden stools. Walls are painted in contrasting shades of blue, green and chocolate, and hung with art selected from local galleries.
Everything on display is up for sale, from the furniture and tableware to the patterned wallpaper commissioned for The Darling. The hotel starts at €950 per night, but can also be rented for meetings and private dinners.
