French artist Camille Walala has put her dazzling Postmodern-inspired stamp on the architecture and interiors of new Mauritius hotel SALT of Palmar.

The geometric, riad-like complex is the first in a new family of hotels from LUX* Resorts & Hotels located in the Indian Ocean and is bursting with colour and pattern. It is the group’s second collaboration with Walala, who previously created a striking mural for the resort’s Beach Rouge beach club, and turns the building into an immersive art experience.

Highlights of the resort include a unique courtyard swimming pool, while the hotel’s 59 rooms – where blue skies and ocean views complement the playful palette of Walala’s scheme – are the product of a collaboration between the artist and Mauritian architect John-François Adams.
