Antwerp fashion retailer Enes is marking its 15th anniversary by opening a new destination store where customers can shop, drink – and even sleep.
Enes founder Muriel Van Nieuwenhove enlisted designer Gert Voorjans to create the multi-experience space within a four-storey townhouse on Volkstraat.
‘We want the store to be an experience in itself,’ says Van Nieuwenhove, ‘a store where our clients feel at home and can shop in a relaxed environment. That’s why we created contrasting corners in our two-level space.’
Voorjans has picked up this domestic theme, creating functional living spaces within the ground and first floor retail areas. A wood-panelled bathroom is stocked with skincare products, while a specially fitted original Cubex kitchen holds one-off objects curated by Van Nieuwenhove.

‘Maximalist’ designer Voorjans has paired period finishes with bright pops of colour, via a Coca-Cola red jewellery display counter, and bold leaf print fabrics.
In a previous life, the building was a bed and breakfast, and above the retail space, three guest rooms have been created. A wheelhouse sits on top of the building.

Visitors can also pick up a book or magazine in-store and read it over a drink in the bar or patio, landscaped by Ben Berckmoes.
This ‘static’ garden is conceived as a riposte to the ever-changing collections inside the store. Berckmoes has crafted the space around a fragile elm tree specially imported for the project, which is supported by a custom stone sheet.
