Knotted red post boxes have started popping up on the streets of England’s Margate, Sheffield and London – part of a surreal new series of artworks by artist Alex Chinneck.
Each of the letterboxes, entitled Alphabetti Spaghetti, has been installed in an area of significance to the artist, including the site of his first public artwork in London – a derelict factory with 312 identically broken windows.
While the Sheffield postbox was temporary, Margate’s will be on view on at All Saints Avenue until 12 January. Londoners can head to Caxton Street where their sculpture is permanent – but sadly, it won’t be accepting mail.
