Inside Ramesses VI's tomb
Egyptophiles can now delve into the depths of Pharaoh Ramesses VI’s tomb, thanks to a new digital tour launched by Egypt’s Tourism Authority.
While travel to the Valley of the Kings is restricted, archeology buffs can still admire the hieroglyphs and wall decorations up close, with the 3D tour taking visitors down the long corridor that leads to the pharaoh’s final resting place.
The tomb, which is known as KV9, has one of the most sophisticated decorative plans in the Valley of the Kings. Digital tourists can look up to admire the intricately painted astronomical ceiling, as well as the depictions of various Egyptian gods.
In the burial chamber, visitors can see the remnants of Ramesses VI’s broken sarcophagus, which was restored in 2004 from more than 250 pieces found inside the tomb.
