The founders of architectural getaway platform BoutiqueHomes have listed their remote 10-acre camp in California’s High Sierra for €620,000.

Designers Veronique Lievre and Heinz Legler’s Far Meadow compound sits 14 miles above Bass Lake, on the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway. About an hour’s drive from Yosemite, the pair of cabins sit on a plot surrounded by meadows, secret swimming holes and miles of hiking trails through the Sierra National Forest.

When the couple purchased the California property back in the 2000s, it had an existing one-bedroom log cabin on the site. They modernised the timber structure in 2005, installing a new corrugated roof and refurbishing its rustic interiors that hone a pioneer vibe.

They’ve also built a contemporary one-bedroom A-frame cabin close to the log cabin, complete with pared-back timber interiors. Soaring glass windows look onto the meadows while a large front deck is perfect for kicking back and watching the sunset.

Interiors of the A-frame are wood-lined, with an open plan kitchen and living area, and a mezzanine sleeping loft accessed by a floating staircase.

Far Meadow has its own shallow well and the off-grid compound is solar-powered. The cabins are for sale via the Boutique Homes website.
