This 1960s ‘Oculus’ home by Aussie architect Frank Fox has hit the market in Sydney following a refresh by Tzannes Associates.
The Sydney practice worked with landscape architect William Danger and interior designers Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke to refurbish Fox’s circular design, which was recognised by the NSW Australian Institute of Architecture Awards when it completed.
It features a partly domed roof, which channels light into the Sydney property’s living spaces. At the same time, retractable curved windows wrap around the home and offer 270-degree views of Danger’s freshly landscaped grounds, and the house’s original focal point – a mature Hills Fig Tree.
The kitchen – which features a timber and stone island, and concealed sliding doors which lead into the living room – has been completely updated while respecting the original footplate of the modernist property.
Oculus is being marketed by Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty with price on application, and the house features among its ‘most unconventional listings’ of 2019.
