Light artist and designer Sabine Marcelis has turned experimental Spanish vacation home Solo Office into a giant timepiece for the launch of watch brand A. Lange & Söhne’s Datograph UP/Down ‘Lumen’.

The Matarraña villa – designed by architects Kersten Geers and David Van Severen and commissioned by developer Christian Bourdais – has a circular 45-metre-wide footprint and glass walls.

Marcelis has installed a mirrored obelisk at its centre to act as a sundial and spark conversations about the movement of time and the relationship between art, architecture and time.

The project, dubbed ‘24 Hours’ was realised in collaboration with Openhouse Magazine and Boudais’ Solo Galeria. We went along to the launch – and to sneak a peek inside the neo-Brutalist structure.
