Berlin loft living gets a Scandi twist in this Charlottenburg attic penthouse, styled by designer Santiago Brotons.

The 320 sq m Berlin apartment has been carved from a previously disused attic space in a turn-of-the-century residential building, and its historic bones have been brought sharply into focus. Brick walls and wooden beams have been exposed and offset with bright white wall planes and pale oak floors, giving the apartment a distinctly minimalist, Scandi vibe.

On the market via Fantastic Frank for €3.68m, the five-bedroom apartment has a vast 120 sq m living room and dining room at its heart. It’s flanked by picture windows which soak the space in light and amplify the volume of its five-metre-high trussed ceilings.

Brotons’ continued the Scandi-theme with a scattering of houseplants and vintage leather and steel-framed furniture – including pieces by Arne Jacobsen and &tradition, and commissioned artworks by Isabella Trimmel. These darker tones are echoed on a larger scale in the loft’s moody anthracite-coloured kitchen.

Elsewhere, a 40 sq m terrace folds off the for outdoor entertaining, with views over the rooftops of Charlotteburg and Clausewitzstraße below. There’s also a smaller, private roof terrace off the master bedroom, while other perks include a built-in Finnish sauna and rain shower.
