Plant life doesn’t stop in the garden of this Parisian home…
Maison JMD was created for a green-fingered botanical editor, who tasked landscape architect (and vertical garden inventor) Patrick Blanc to create a living wall in the property’s double-height living room.

It takes pride of place in the five-bedroom house, designed by Parisian practice XY Architects in 2003. The building sits on a narrow plot of land in a neighbourhood favoured by artists and makers, and its street facade has been designed to echo surrounding workshops.
At the back, the green theme continues with a series of planted terraces on each level of the six-storey house, which is crowned by a mature rooftop garden.
Rooms open onto terraces that can be accessed via a steel staircase, which snakes its way up the property’s exterior. Inside, a glass lift rises through the house.
Polished concrete floors and expansive glazing amplify light within the property’s volumes – which appear stacked from the outside like a series of boxes.
And if there’s still not enough greenery for you, the property is close to one of Paris’s biggest public spaces, Parc Montsouris in the city’s 14th arrondissement.
