This Shanghai cafe measures just 20 sq m

But it’s bursting with character

It might be located off one of Shanghai’s busiest arteries but at just 20 sq m, Fine cafe is designed to draw only the most observant of pastry-loving pilgrims.

Local practice Atelier A designed the rustic interiors of the teahouse and dessert spot, which is an eponymous addition to the brand’s small chain of Japanese-style cafes in the city.

Atelier A has given the interiors an old-world vibe via exposed brick and rough cement walls and floors. The staff bar and pastry cabinets are made from worn dark wood which adds to the vintage feel, while a trio of small wooden tables has been mounted to the wall.

Naked lightbulbs and electrical wiring are left exposed, adding to Fine’s rugged minimalist vibe.
