Tropical views abound at Balinese holiday home Rumah Hujan, which perches on a ravine above the Wos River in Ubud.
The three-bedroom Bali holiday home was designed by Venezuelan-born architect Maximilian Jencquel, who lives and works on the estate. According to Departures, the villa is an unusual experiment involving adaptive reuse – it is constructed using a reclaimed ironwood bridge brought back from Borneo, along with lava stone and timber.

A sweeping 60-sqm living room and dining room forms the heart of the villa, which is marketed via The Perfect Hideaway and available to rent direct starting from $540 per night. It is capped by a trussed ceiling, and furnished with an eclectic and international mix of design pieces: think oversized sofas, Danish armchairs and a Carrara marble coffee table.

Rooms open onto a timber deck and saltwater infinity pool, while a turtle-shaped bamboo pavilion can also be found on the estate, built by Jencquel in collaboration with Ibuku. It houses a badminton court and doubles as a yoga studio and play area.
