Champagne serves as more than just a drink at new Madrid restaurant Bocadillo de Jamón y Champán.
Local studio Lucas Y Hernández-Gil designed the space – set in a late 19th-century building – taking cues from bottles of the drink as well as the glitzy culture that surrounds it.
Tables and bar stools were custom-designed by the practice and come rounded like the contours of a magnum bottle. The glossy brass lamps and gold on the walls convey its sparkly side.
These are offset by the calmer cobalt blue tiling and the space’s raw stone walls. The original pillars are also a nod to the history of the building, located in Madrid’s Malasaña area.
